Blueprint Reading for Welders

This course is designed to follow a basic blueprint reading course where the student will learn the rudiments of interpreting working sketches and prints common to the metalworking field. Required skills developed in a logical progression of units, moving from simple to complex principles. This course is helpful in the immediate task of reading blueprints but will also aid the most experienced of tradesmen.

Welding--Basic

This course is designed for the beginner with no prior knowledge or experience. It is helpful in the decision-making when considering welding as a career choice. Topics include: basic welding positions of flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead, typical butt, lap, and tee joints. Class size limited to 10. Welding students must provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles after the first night of class.

Welding--Advanced

This course requires mastery of all stick welding applications. Applications include stick welding, mig, flux core, and tig welding of various metals. AWS certification available for additional fee for qualified students. Welding students must provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles.

Introduction to Weld Inspection

This fast-paced course is an introduction to welding inspection for anyone in the welding field. Classroom course includes overview of weld inspection programs, fundamentals of visual inspection, arc welding inspection & quality control, and liquid penetrant & magnetic particle inspection.

Pipe Welding

The pipe welding course is for advanced welders who want to upgrade their skills to open root welding with various types of processes. The course is designed to take company and student needs into consideration, and upon request, will follow a company's pipe welding procedures to prepare the welding for immediate transition into the desired area of welding. A proficient level of welding ability is highly recommended for this course. Welding students must provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles after the first night of class.

Welding--AWS Certification Testing

AWS 2G D1.1 certification.  Stick, MIG or Flux Core applications.  Welding students must provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles.

Welding--Booth/Practice Time

Booth/Practice time can be provided under limited conditions: Please contact the RCTC office at 814-464-8601 to inquire.*  Customers provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles.

* Booth/Practice time can be provided with the following conditions:

      Customers provide verification from a previous school or employer that they possess previous training or welding experience.

      RCTC has an open weld booth available.

      Customer must obtain permission from the RCTC Advanced Welding instructor.

      Payment must be made in advance in the RCTC Office.

      Customers must provide their own welding hoods, jackets, gloves, chipping hammers, pull out rule, safety glasses and burning goggles.

      RCTC reserves the right to discontinue a practice session due to safety, liability or performance concerns. In the event that a session is discontinued, a refund will be provided.
