COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER

The Regional Career & Technical Center has partnered with PA Pride, LLC to provide commercial truck driver training in Erie County. PA Pride, LLC has delivered quality commercial truck driver training in Northwest Pennsylvania for several years and works with career and technical centers across the region. Four training programs are available.

RCTC CDL

240 - CDL Class A Oil and Gas Safety Program

Tuition: $7,500
Other Fees: $340 (Permit & Endorsements $175, DOT Physical $80, and DOT Drug Test $85)

Entrance Requirements: Individual must be at least 18 years of age, have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen.

Program Information

The 240 - CDL Class A Oil and Gas Program is a six week comprehensive training program designed to teach individuals the necessary skills to safely operate a commercial vehicle and have an understanding of working safely in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The training consists of four sections.  In the first section, the student receives 40 hours of classroom training in the skills needed to pass the Class A permit test.  The second section of training consists of three and a half weeks (140 hours) of road and range training.  Students will be learn the skills needed to take their Class A CDL test and how to operate a commercial vehicle safely.  The third section of training is 20 hours of classroom training to learn the skills needed to pass the Hazmat, Tanker and Doubles and Triples Endorsement tests.  The last section of the training will be a 40 hour online Oil and Gas Safety program.  This program is instructor led and includes testing after each of the 26 modules required to be completed.  These modules cover Hours of Service for the Oil and Gas Industry, Fluid Truck Accident and Rollover Prevention, Driving Safely for Oilfield Employees, Intro to Oilfield Drilling Operations and Equipment, Intro to Oilfield Worksites, and other safety modules. 

The program will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment with national, regional, and local companies. Each student is responsible to cover the cost of permits, endorsements, DOT physicals and DOT drug screens.

At the completion of the program, students will be provided the assistance needed to take the license examination.

200 - CDL Class A Program

The 200 - CDL Class A program is a five week comprehensive training program designed to teach individual the necessary skills to safely operate a commercial vehicle.

The training consists of two sections.  Section one includes 60 hours of classroom instruction to teach the skills needed to pass the Class A permit test as well as the Hazmat, Tanker and Doubles/Triples Endorsement test.  The second section of the training is 140 hours in length and includes road and range training, as well as the skills needed to take the Class A CDL test and operate a commercial vehicle safely.

The program will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment with national, regional, and local companies. Each student is responsible to cover the cost of permits, endorsements, DOT physicals and DOT drug screens.

At the completion of the program, students will be provided the assistance needed to take the license examination.

160 - CDL Class A Program

The 160 - CLD Class A Program is a four week comprehensive training program designed to teach individuals the necessary skills to safely operate a commercial vehicle.

The training consists of two sections.  The first section includes 40 hours of classroom training to learn the skills needed to pass the Class A permit test.  The second section of the training consists of three weeks (120 hours) of training, including road and range training and learning the individual skills needed to take the Class A CDL test and operate a commercial vehicle safely.

The program will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment with national, regional, and local companies. Each student is responsible to cover the cost of permits, endorsements, DOT physicals and DOT drug screens.

At the completion of the program, students will be provided the assistance needed to take the license examination.

Program Information

The CDL Class A Refresher Program is a two week, 80 hour program designed for the individual that currently possesses a Class A CDL license, but is having a difficult time obtaining employment due to the length of time out of the truck.

During this program an individual will be refreshed on filling out a logbook, honing their skills on the backing range and on the road.
