The purpose of this Insurance Specialist technical certificate is to provide the academic and occupational training necessary to prepare students for high growth career and entrepreneurial opportunities in the insurance industry.  Insurance specialists interview prospective clients to obtain information about their insurance needs, the physical condition of the person or property to be insured, and review insurance applications to ensure that all questions have been answered.  Insurance Specialists also ensure that policy requirements are fulfilled, including any necessary medical examinations and the completion of appropriate forms.  Another important aspect of their work is to proactively seek out new clients.

Students will take part in theory and practical experiences that emphasize competency in the following content areas: consultancy, customer service, front-line underwriting, quotations, and agency management systems. Upon completion of the course, students are qualified to sit for the state licensing exams for property, casualty and life insurance, and accident and health insurance.
